First part of Ferdinando Di Leo's poliziottesco crime trilogy. When small-time gangster Ugo Piazza (Gastone Moschin) is released from prison, he meets with former employer and psychopathic gangster Rocco (Mario Adorf). He tries to convince him, the mafia and his girlfriend (Barbara Bouchet) he wants to go straight and clean himself from criminal activities. But everyone thinks he's lying and they believe he has stolen $300,000 and hidden it from them.
